Working Together to Accelerate Progress

At the Leeds Centre for Spinal Cord Injury Research, we know that no single organisation can solve the challenges of spinal cord injury alone. Breakthroughs depend on collaboration — across universities, hospitals, industry, and the wider community.
We actively partner with leading academic institutions, clinicians, and technology developers around the world to advance discovery, translation, and implementation of new therapies and rehabilitation strategies.

Academic Collaboration

We work closely with other universities and research institutes to share knowledge, expertise, and resources. These collaborations span neuroscience, engineering, regenerative medicine, computer science, and rehabilitation, ensuring that our research benefits from a truly multidisciplinary approach.

The Centre has a strong track record of working with industry to accelerate innovation. From supporting technology development to translational studies, from licensing out discoveries to creating spin-out companies, we help industry partners bring their ideas closer to clinical and patient impact. We are open to working with start-ups, SMEs, and global medtech and biotech organisations who share our mission of improving outcomes after spinal cord injury.

Heathcare Relationships

Three images side by side, showing research in a lab then a clinical trial, then coming to the market.

We work closely with healthcare providers, rehabilitation centres, and hospitals to bridge research and clinical practice. By building strong relationships with clinicians and patient communities, we ensure that our work addresses real-world needs.
A key part of this effort is supporting the collection and analysis of spinal cord injury data, helping to establish registries and outcome measures that inform both clinical practice and research.
Through these collaborations, we also play an active role in designing and running clinical trials, ensuring that promising therapies and technologies are tested rigorously and brought closer to the people who need them most.
